Urban Engagement - Las Vegas Parklet
As part of Tinderbox work for The Nature Conservancy in Nevada, a strategic partnership was developed with the University of Nevada Landscape Architecture Department, Iowa State University, and the Las Vegas Downtown Project to design, build, install a parklet that connected the local community and tourists with the natural areas that surround them. Volunteer, Outreach, and Strategic Partnership Development:
Tinderbox developed the community outreach and volunteerism program for The Nature Conservancy in Nevada. This program was designed to work strategically with marketing and fundraising elements of the organization to identify collaborative partners and execute events that inspire the community and supporters while at the same time ensuring conservation goals are met.
In order to better connect the client’s work with the general public as well as with current and future supporters, several types of strategic partnerships and events were developed. Among these were a museum exhibit and video featuring client’s conservation work.
Initiated with volunteer engagement, a multi-year strategic partnership was developed that included thousands of hours of volunteer work, product donations, as well as financial and event support.
International Exchange Program:
For a month in 2018, Tinderbox hosted a Professional Fellow from Albania as part of a U.S. Department of State Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs exchange program. The goal of the program is to create a forum for American and foreign participants to collaborate and share ideas and strategies for affecting change in their home countries and rural communities. As part of the program, Martin Swinehart spent time working in Albania with environmental non-profit Milieukontakt and also presented at the program conferences in Romania and Bulgaria.
Albanian Fellow Arion Sauku spent a month working with Tinderbox and several clients.
